| Satin, a glossy fabric almost looks like silk but not as pure silk. Silk is a natural fabric while satin is synthetic. But satin is a choice of many. It has graced many items like clothings, bed sheets, and covers etc. It has a very opulent look and do come variety of colors.
Satin is a very flaccid stuff that gives creamy feel in touching. It’s very poise by nature and soft from front and flat on the opposite side. This fabric dresses are being worn in weddings, evening parties, prom, cocktail parties etc. Satin is unforgiving fabric and gives enhancing look in all the occasions.
But as much it is admired for its beauty, at the same pace requires great care to save from stains or spills. It is a very susceptible fabric on which even a drop of water is clearly visible. Though giving for dry-cleaning is one the best methods to remove stains but sometimes due to little late your dress can spoil for the lifetime. Here are given few tips that you should directly apply as something spills over satin dress. As satin is a celluloid material thus can be made out of silk, nylon, polyester etc, but the cleaning process of satin is same for all. These tilts are applicable to all satin dresses.
1) Satin dresses should be washed with hands only. Hand washing is very gentle for them. Though nylon and polyester satin can be washed using the gentle cycle of a washing machine.
2) Quickly remove stains with stain remover else they will last forever. Follow removing procedure as per written on the instruction label and then wash.
3) Soft cleansers like Woolite or Kookaburra Wool wash are good for washing satin dresses.
4) Never use bleaching powder over tarnished satin dress. Bleach is very hard and cracks the satin material. Use satin stain remover but keep in mind it should not contain bleach.
5) If your satin dress is stained with blood put it in cold water. Water absorbs blood. Apply stain remover if still stain does not go.
6) Lukewarm water makes the satin rough and hard. Either cold or warm water is best for the washing of satin dresses.
7) Never squeeze satin after washing. It makes creases. Better way is to place satin over dry towel and then roll it around satin. This is the perfect way to remover water from satin.
8) For drying satin use air-dry method. Clothes dryer is not relevant for satin.
The above-mentioned ideas are applicable for satin washing. But there are other certain precautions, which should be rigorously followed by satin users for its long life. Here are they:
i) Dark, cool place is the perfect storage for satin. Before putting it inside, for sometime keep it in fresh air.
ii) Direct exposure to sun fades out color of satin. Thus keep it away from sun. Only polyester satin can be dried in sun.
iii) This point is the extension of (ii) point. Satin should be kept away from warmers or heaters. It weakens the fibers of satin thus lowers down the quality.
iv) Highly fragile satin fades color very quickly as well have chances are of getting damaged too. Thus never wash it with hands. Dry cleaning is best for them.
First look of a satin makes you feel to fancy up in it. It has a very luxurious and feminine feel. Such a high quality fabric should be kept and washed properly for getting a fabulous look.
